THE OPUS DIFFERENCE

Not every ABA provider is the same

Here's what sets Opus apart from corporate chains and one-size-fits-all programs.

Families first, always

Every decision at Opus starts with one question: is this best for the child? No investors, no corporate metrics — just families.

Your child, not a caseload number

We keep our caseloads intentionally small so every child gets the attention, creativity, and care they deserve. Your child's BCBA knows their favorite color, not just their data.

Aberdeen deserves better

Too many families in northeast South Dakota wait months for ABA care — or settle for impersonal, corporate-run programs. Opus exists to change that.

GETTING STARTED

We're with you every step of the way

A simple, clear path from first call to ongoing progress.

Tell us about your child — we'll listen carefully, answer your questions, and help you understand what ABA therapy can look like for your family. No pressure, no commitment.
We handle the paperwork. Our team verifies your benefits, explains your coverage, and makes sure you understand costs before anything starts. Most families pay $0 out of pocket.
A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) conducts a thorough assessment of your child's unique needs, strengths, and goals — then builds a treatment plan designed specifically for them.
Compassionate, consistent 1:1 sessions delivered in the comfort of your home by a trained Behavior Technician, with ongoing BCBA supervision and support.
We measure progress continuously, adjust plans as your child grows, and celebrate every milestone with you. You'll always know exactly where your child stands and where they're headed.

FAQ

Questions parents ask us

We get it — this is new territory. Here are the answers to the questions we hear most.

ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) is an evidence-based therapy that helps children with autism build communication, social, and daily living skills through positive reinforcement. It's endorsed by the US Surgeon General, the CDC, and the American Psychological Association as the most effective treatment for autism spectrum disorder.
We work with children, teens, and young adults ages 2 through 21. ABA is most effective when started early, but children of any age can benefit from therapy.
Most families we work with pay $0 out of pocket. ABA therapy is covered by South Dakota Medicaid and most major private insurance plans including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Aetna, and United Healthcare. We verify your benefits before anything starts so there are no surprises.
Most likely, yes. South Dakota Medicaid covers ABA therapy, and most major insurance plans are required to cover autism-related services including ABA. We handle insurance verification for you — just reach out and we'll check your specific coverage.
Currently, all Opus ABA therapy is delivered in your home — the most comfortable, natural environment for your child to learn and grow. We're also exploring center-based services for the future.
Every child's treatment plan is different. After the initial assessment, your BCBA will recommend a number of hours based on your child's specific needs and goals. Plans typically range from 10 to 40 hours per week, but we work with your family's schedule and priorities.
A BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) is a master's-level clinician who has completed supervised training in behavior analysis and passed a national certification exam. Your child's BCBA designs their treatment plan, supervises therapy sessions, and adjusts goals as your child progresses.
An RBT (Registered Behavior Technician) is a trained therapist who works directly with your child during sessions. RBTs are certified by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board and supervised by a BCBA to ensure the highest quality care.
If your child has been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or shows delays in communication, social skills, or daily living skills, ABA therapy may help. If you're unsure, we offer free consultations to discuss your child's needs — no diagnosis required to start the conversation.
We move as fast as your insurance allows. After your free consultation, we verify insurance coverage (typically 1-3 business days), complete the assessment, and begin therapy. Most families start within 2-4 weeks of their first call.

Why Opus exists

Every child is a masterpiece in progress. That's not a slogan — it's the belief that drives everything we do at Opus ABA.

Opus was founded with a simple conviction: that children with autism in Aberdeen and across South Dakota deserve access to exceptional ABA therapy — delivered with warmth, respect, and genuine care — without having to travel hours or wait months.

We chose the name Opus because it means a great work of art — a masterpiece. That's how we see every child who walks through our doors. Not as a diagnosis. Not as a case number. As a masterpiece still being revealed.

Revealing the brilliance within.

We're building something different here: a practice where families know their clinician's name, where the founder answers the phone, and where every treatment decision is made with your child — not a corporate playbook — at the center.
